Escape Rig: 2023 Toyota Tacoma TRD OffRoad + X1 Camper
Oregonian Kelton Gregory was a desperado in need of a trusty four-wheeled sidekick. It had to be nimble enough for quick weekend escapes in the high desert, but with just enough comfort features for longer hauls. With a bit of sweat and a hand from Dad, the result is Kelton’s X1-equipped Tacoma, better known as Miley Chiquita Bandita de Rolo!

What was your goal with your camper build out?
"My goal is to be able to live out of this weeks at a time vs days at a time so I did a bench seat build-out with my dad for internal storage."
Build Highlights:
- Custom extruded aluminum bench seat storage
- Berkey water filter system
- Ecoflow Wave 2 heating/cooling system
- IceCo Fridge

What's Your Favorite piece of gear?
"Ugh so many, if I had to choose one it would be my Starlink mini (cliche haha); second favorite would be my Berkey water filter."
What's the best unexpected benefit of owning your X1?
"The community! Didn't realize just how many connections I would make across the US, it's really dope. Also being able to inspire other solo female travelers to chase their wild, campers aren't just for dudes! Haha!"

What's your favorite thing about your setup?
"I love that it gives me a safe place to sleep in some truly epic and wild places. Feels like that's the whole reason why I (and many others) bought a camper is the blank canvas to be able to set it up in a way where I can rest and recharge for big adventures."
What’s your favorite adventure you've taken?
"Tough call, my first few nights of owning the camper I went to the southern Oregon coast for some camping, explored the rugged coastline and got to hike in the giant redwoods of NorCal. It was insane but every adventure I've been on feels like there's an amount of awe that I experience. Also just went on a month-long National Parks trip around the Southwest, it was incredible!"

Words of wisdom for other adventurers?
"We all have our own definitions of comfort and "wild" so I think getting out more often will teach you where those edges are for you. Having a platform you can trust with your life makes those experiences so much sweeter and gives us a chance to constantly rewrite our stories."
