Christian's Ford Transit Family Van

Pro MTB content creator Christian Peper and wife Cara, of Salt Lake City, UT, are no strangers to the realities of the van life, having spent over 300 nights in their previous van build. But after the arrival of their 3rd kid they needed to rethink how they could make their Ford Transit escape rig work with five people and gear for everyone.

Their new van build needed to have:

With a full 2-person sleeping loft up top the lower bed didn't have to compete for the same floor space. And because you enter from inside the van, everyone is in the same locked, secure, weatherproof space.

"You don't realize," says Christian, "until you try it back to back with a rooftop tent, how nice it is to have your kids inside the vehicle with you."

More Space FOR WHAT MATTERS

Christian's previous van had a static layout — everything in its place, everything accessible. The tradeoff was space. With two kids and a new baby, there was no room left to negotiate.
