the leather straps that the bolt goes through are a fluke. Luckily, I had a tie down buckle I was able to bolt to the tailgate and just run the Velcro strap through it, ditching the leather bolt strap

Nice to have a pull to help with opening and closing the tailgate gently and quietly when getting in and out of the truck while camping. We did have to reinforce it with a flat metal washer since the knot pulled through the fabric hole where it attaches to the tailgate though.
