Katie & Zac
preferably on the road ;)
Escape Rig: 2016 Toyota Tacoma OR
Katie & Zac go hard, traveling coast to coast for work. On weekends, they're chasing trails, hauling kayaks, and riding bikes out of the back of this purpose-built Tacoma adventure rig.
What mods have you made?
Runnin4Tacos has installed everything but the X1. The lift and DRT bumpers give us more clearance. The ARB air compressor is super helpful to have.
We love the organization accessories to keep our gear tidy. We wanted something versatile that could be a work truck and adventure vehicle. The T-mat is a great solution for us and allows us to swap out our gear cases or easily clear our camping supplies out and switch into "work mode".
Does your rig have a nickname?
Pookie
Daily Driver or Dedicated Adventure Rig?
She's a multi-use beast but not our daily driver. Pookie's a transformer! She's been coast to coast carrying event gear to Overland Expos, camped all the way down the Baja Peninsula and hauled a canoe up to the Boundary Waters.
What's the best unexpected benefit of owning your X1?
The Super Pacific Family! We've loved getting to know the team at Super Pacific. It's obvious they genuinely care about their customers. It's also so cool that they make an effort to build community and it's so fun to run into another X1 on the road.
What's your favorite thing about your setup?
The Buzzkill is our favorite Super Pacific item. We've also added some door organization plus Kingpin lights and Reign Outdoors awning.
Favorite road snack?
Pop tarts.
Favorite piece of gear in your setup?
The HEST Foamys! No matter the trip, we need good sleep. The whole HEST bed setup makes the camper feel cozier and the Foamy keeps us from waking up achy.
What’s your favorite adventure you've taken?
There's nothing quite as magical as Baja for us. We've been several times and will continue going back.
What's do you love most about your rig?
The versatility. We went from a van to this setup and it's been way more useful for us. This truck is easier to drive through cities and can get to places our van never could.
